KERBEDANZ gave to this piece of jewelry the emblematic name of the famous city of Florence, the capital of the province of Tuscany and cradle of the Renaissance in Italy.

Four Florentine fleurs de lys on the dial, embedded with beautiful rubies, recall the arms of Florence with fleur de lys vermilion florencé, the term “florencé” meaning the fleur de lys includes among its fleuron of the stems the buttons.

Sun guilloche dial recalls the solar lion of the Medici who became rulers of the tiwn in 1434. The representations of this lion, called Marzocco, holding in his right anterior leg a crest stamped with Florentine fleurs de lys, come across in several places in the city. It symbolizes the people’s power of Florentines (Medici lions symbolizing the power and the wealth of the Medici family).

Of this family, Laurent de Medici (1449-1492), called “The Magnificent” because of this great generosity, was undoubtedly the personality who has contributed the most to the reputation of the “city of art” of Florence.
